Set up Volume offer when buying the same products
Hello store owners!
This article will guide you on how to set up Volume offer when your customers buy the same product in bulk, as known as our first Volume strategy - Product-based strategy.
A volume discount is a price reduction offered to buyers who purchase in bulk quantities. Producers or sellers are able to reduce inventories and take advantage of economies of scale by allowing discounts to bulk buyers.
Product-based strategy means that customers will be entitled to price reduction only when they buy bulk quantities of the SAME product.
For eg: A volume discount, off 20% when buying 5 items, is set for the Shirt and Dress
=> Customers get 20% when buying:
5 shirts of the same colors
5 shirts of different colors
5 dresses of the same colors
5 dresses of different colors
In this instruction article, we will use this example of setting up a Product-based volume offer for a snowboard product with 3 levels:
Buy 2 Green Snowboard, save 10% OFF
Buy 4 Green Snowboard, save 20% OFF
Buy 6 Green Snowboard, save 30% OFF
Step 1: From the app dashboard, choose Create Product-based Volume offer
Step 2: Set a name for your offer
Name your offer as you wish to distinguish between offers
Step 3: Choose display widget
You can choose between the Basic offer table or the Quantity selector table:
- Basic offer table is served to promote offer information with additional Add to cart button for quick add
- Quantity selector provides additional function of adding/removing products within widget. You are able to select different variants of the Snowboard as well
Step 4: Set up offer logic
Choose "Same variant" or "Any variants" logic
- If you choose the same variant, the offer only applies when your customer buys the same variant of snowboard
- If you choose any variants, the offer will apply even when customers mix variants in their purchase
Set up offer tiers:
With our desired offer, we will set up 3 tiers with the following input:
Tier 1: quantity 2, discount type: percentage, amount: 10
Tier 2: quantity 4, discount type: percentage, amount: 20
Tier 3: quantity 6, discount type: percentage, amount: 30
Step 5: Choose target product/collection
Choose "Snowboard"
Step 6: Set up combination logic
Tick the box if you would like the volume offer to be combined with Product discount, Order discount or Shipping discount from native Shopify discount
Step 7: Schedule offer
Set the start date and end date for your offer for it to start/end automatically.
If an end date is set, you will have the option to enable a countdown timer on the storefront.
Once set up, when your customers buy enough quantities, the product prices in cart and on checkout will be discounted.
