How Coupon usage restrictions work

Hello store owners!
This article will guide you through setting up coupon usage restrictions. The following options allow you to control how a coupon can be used in your system.

Limit number of times this coupon can be used in total

What it does: Restricts the total number of times the coupon can be used by all customers.

Example: If you set the limit to 100, the coupon will stop working after it has been redeemed 100 times by any customers.

Limit product quantity per order to use this coupon

What it does: Sets a maximum number of products a customer can buy to apply the coupon.

How it works: If a customer buys less than or equal to the set limit, the coupon will apply. If they buy more, only the maximum allowed quantity will get the discount. The extra products will not be discounted and will be separated in the cart.

Example: If the limit is 5 and the customer adds 7 of the same product, the coupon will apply to 5, and the remaining 2 will not get a discount. These items will show as separate entries in the cart.

Limit to one use per customer

What it does: Ensures that each customer can use the coupon only once, regardless of how many orders they place. This option only applies to customers who are logged in. The system tracks coupon usage based on the customer's account. If they are not logged in, the restriction cannot be enforced.

Example: If a customer uses the coupon for one order, they will not be able to use it again.
