How to Set Up Translations for Your Cart Drawer
Would you like to customize the text inside your cart drawer to match your target audience's language? Or perhaps you are selling internationally and want to display localized text for different countries?
The Translation feature in Snap Cart Drawer allows you to easily translate and customize every piece of text inside your cart drawer — from the announcement bar and reward progress bar to buttons and subtotal texts.
Here is a simple, step-by-step guide to setting up translations for your store.
Step 1: Add and Publish Your Target Language in Shopify
Before configuring translations in the app, you need to make sure your desired languages are active in your Shopify store settings:
- From your Shopify Admin, go to Settings (bottom-left corner).
- Click on Languages in the left sidebar.
- Click the Add language button in the top-right corner.
- In the pop-up, search for and select your desired language, then click Next and Add.
- Scroll down to the newly added language, click the three dots (...) next to it, and select Publish.
Step 2: Open the Translation Dashboard in Snap Cart Drawer
- Go to your Shopify Admin → Apps → Snap Cart Drawer.
- In the left navigation menu, click on the Translation tab.
- If you have configured multiple carts for different markets, click the dropdown under Auto-translation to select the specific cart you want to translate (e.g., Default, Cart 1, or Cart 2).
Step 3: Add Language Tabs for Translation
- Under the You can publish language here section, click the
+button next to the default language tab. - In the pop-up, check the boxes next to the languages you want to translate (these are the languages you published in Shopify in Step 1).
- Click to add them as active translation tabs.
Step 4: Fill in Your Localized Translations
- Click on the language tab you want to edit (e.g., Vietnamese or Bulgarian).
- Below, you will see all the translatable text fields grouped by elements (such as Announcement bar, Rewards bar, and buttons).
- Type your custom translation in each text box.
- Keep the Show Preview checkbox enabled to watch your translations update live in the cart preview on the right side of your screen.
💡 Time-saving Tip: Click the Translate all button next to the cart selector to automatically translate all text fields using the app's built-in auto-translation feature, and then fine-tune the translations manually.
Step 5: Save Your Changes
Once you are done translating all the fields:
- Click the Save button in the top-right corner to apply the changes.
- Visit your storefront, switch your website's language using your theme's language selector, and verify that the cart drawer displays the correct translated text!
