FAQ -> What is the difference between Same variants and Any variants?

How are product variants handled in BOGO Deal?

BOGO Deal supports products with variants and allows you to configure rewards using specific products or variants.

When configuring your campaign, it's important to understand how variants are handled for both campaign qualification and reward delivery.

Can customers receive the same variant they purchased?

Yes.

If you configure the campaign using the same product, customers will receive the same variant they purchased.

Example

Customer purchases:

  • T-Shirt – Black / Medium

Campaign:

  • Buy: Same product
  • Get: Same product

Result:

The customer receives another Black / Medium T-Shirt.

Can I choose specific variants as rewards?

Yes.

Instead of using Same product, you can manually select specific products or product variants in the Get section.

Only the selected variants will be available as rewards.

Example

Campaign:

Buy:

  • T-Shirt

Get:

  • T-Shirt – Black / Medium

Result:

Customers who qualify for the campaign receive the Black / Medium variant, regardless of which T-Shirt variant they purchased.

How does the campaign calculate the purchase quantity?

Campaign qualification is calculated at the product level, not the variant level.

This means all variants of the same product contribute toward the required purchase quantity.

Example

Campaign:

  • Buy 3, Get 1 Free

Product:

  • T-Shirt
    • Variant A
    • Variant B
    • Variant C

Customer purchases:

  • Variant A ×1
  • Variant B ×1
  • Variant C ×1

Result:

The campaign is triggered because the customer purchased 3 units of the same product, even though they are different variants.

Can I require customers to buy the same variant?

No.

Currently, BOGO Deal does not support qualifying customers based on a specific product variant.

For example, you cannot create a rule such as:

  • Buy 3 × Variant A → Get 1 Free

while preventing combinations like:

  • Variant A ×1
  • Variant B ×1
  • Variant C ×1

As long as the required quantity of the selected product is reached, all variants of that product count toward the campaign qualification.

Things to keep in mind

  • Campaign qualification is calculated at the product level.
  • All variants of the same product count toward the required purchase quantity.
  • Customers can receive the same variant they purchased when using Same product as the reward.
  • You can also manually configure specific product variants as rewards.
  • Variant-specific purchase requirements are not currently supported.
