FAQ - Can I use the same product for both Buy item and Get item

Can I use the same product as both Buy item and Get item?

Yes. You can select the same product as both the Buy item and the Get item in a BOGO Deal campaign.

This allows you to create a Buy X Get X (BXGX) promotion, where customers receive additional units of the same product after meeting the purchase requirements.

Example

Suppose you're selling a T-Shirt.

Campaign setup

Buy:

  • T-Shirt ×1

Get:

  • T-Shirt ×1

Discount:

  • Free (100% OFF)

Customer experience

When a customer purchases one T-Shirt, they qualify to receive another T-Shirt for free.

This creates a classic Buy One Get One Free promotion.

What promotions can I create?

Using the same product for both the Buy and Get items allows you to create promotions such as:

Promotion
Example
Buy 1 Get 1 Free
Buy 1 T-Shirt → Get 1 T-Shirt Free
Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off
Buy 1 T-Shirt → Get another T-Shirt 50% Off
Buy 2 Get 1 Free
Buy 2 Candles → Get 1 Candle Free
Buy 3 Get 1 $10 Off
Buy 3 Mugs → Get another Mug with $10 Off

Can I use the same collection instead?

Not directly.

The Get section currently supports selecting specific products only.

If you'd like customers to receive products from the same collection, you'll need to manually add the eligible products to the Get list.

For example:

  • Buy: Summer Collection
  • Get: Product A, Product B, Product C

While this allows you to achieve a similar result, the app does not currently support selecting a collection directly for the Get condition.

What discount types are supported?

BOGO Deal currently supports the following reward types:

  • Percentage discount
  • Fixed amount discount
  • Free (100% discount)

Examples:

  • Get 50% OFF
  • Get $10 OFF
  • Get the item for free

Can customers receive multiple rewards?

Yes.

Customers can receive multiple rewards when they qualify for the promotion multiple times within the same order by activating the "Apply multiple times based on quantity" function in the BOGO deal campaign.

Example

Campaign:

  • Buy 2, Get 1 Free

Customer purchases:

  • 6 eligible items

Result:

The customer qualifies for the promotion twice and receives 3 free items.

How it works

The app automatically calculates how many times the customer qualifies for the promotion based on the campaign requirements and the quantity of eligible items in the cart.

For example:

Campaign
Customer Purchases
Reward
Buy 1, Get 1 Free
2 items
2 free items
Buy 2, Get 1 Free
3 items
1 free item
Buy 2, Get 1 Free
6 items
3 free items

This allows customers to unlock additional rewards as they purchase larger quantities of eligible products.

Things to keep in mind

  • The same product can be used as both the Buy item and Get item.
  • The Get section currently supports specific products only.
  • Reward products must be added individually.
  • Product variants may behave differently depending on whether you choose Same variants or Any variants.
  • Customers must still meet all campaign requirements before the reward becomes available.
