Introduction to Campaign targeting

The Campaign targeting feature in BOGO helps you control exactly which customers can see and apply your promotion campaigns.

In this article, we'll walk you through how each targeting option works and how to set them up easily.

What is Campaign targeting?

Campaign targeting allows you to target specific customer groups based on:

  • Customer Tags
  • Customer Segments
  • Target Location
  • Promotion URL

Important:

  • By default (None option), the campaign is visible to everyone without any tag or segment restrictions.
  • However, if a customer has a specific tag (e.g., "VIP"), they will only see campaigns that are also targeted to that same tag.
  • To allow tagged customers to see general campaigns, you need to duplicate the campaign and assign the relevant tag.

Campaign Targeting Options

When creating a campaign, you can choose one of the following targeting methods:

  1. None (Default)

The campaign is visible to all customers without any restriction.

Important Note:

  • If a customer already has a tag (e.g., "VIP"), they will only see campaigns specifically assigned to that tag.
  • Even if a campaign is set to "None," tagged customers won't see it unless you duplicate the campaign and assign their tag to it.
  1. Customer Tags

Apply to customers with specific tags (such as "VIP", "Wholesale", etc.).

Only customers with the selected tags can see and apply the campaign.

The tags are based on what you have already set for your customers in your Shopify admin > Customers.

For example: We set up for Jenifer a VIP tag on the store admin.

  1. Customer Segments

Apply to customers who belong to specific customer segments.

You can select one or multiple segments.

Only customers matching the selected segments will be eligible for the campaign.

  1. Target Location

Apply to customers in a specific geographic location.

Useful if you want to offer promotions only to certain markets.

  1. Promotion URL

Direct customers to get promotion via a unique link.

How it works:

  • You generate a custom URL using a short text input (max 10 characters).
  • Share the link with your customers. Only those who click this link will be able to see and apply the campaign.
