How to set up an Announcement bar

The Announcement Bar is a simple and effective way to share important updates, highlight discount campaigns, or create urgency directly within your cart drawer. It helps grab your customers' attention quickly and encourages them to complete their checkout.

In Snap Cart Drawer, you can fully customize the bar's appearance to match your store's branding.

Step 1: Enable the Announcement Bar

1. From your Shopify Admin, go to Apps → Snap Cart Drawer.
2. Click Edit on your active cart card to open the Cart Editor.
3. In the left sidebar under the HEADER section, locate Announcement Bar.

4. Toggle the switch to On (Green).

   

Step 2: Choose Your Message Type

Click directly on Announcement Bar to open its settings. At the top of the Settings tab, choose the Message type you want to display:

• Cart Reservation Timer: Displays a countdown timer to create urgency (e.g., reserving items for a limited time).
• Promo & News: Displays scrolling or rotating promotional messages to highlight store updates or offers.

Step 3: Configure Your Announcement Settings

Depending on the message type you chose in Step 2, configure the settings below:

Option A: Cart Reservation Timer

This option creates a sense of urgency by showing customers a countdown timer indicating how long their products are reserved.

1. Messages: Customize the message text. You can use the {{timer}}    variable to display the running countdown clock.
2. Duration: Set the time limit in minutes and seconds (e.g., 01m 00s).
3. When timer ends: Choose what happens when the countdown hits zero:
   • Hide the countdown (keeps items in cart but removes the bar).
   • Remove all items from cart (clears the customer's cart).

Option B: Promo & News

This option allows you to display up to 4 rotating announcements to showcase sales, discounts, or shipping information.

1. Messages: Enter your announcement texts (click Add message to add more).

   Display: Choose how messages transition:

   • Carousel: Customers can click left/right navigation arrows (<    and >   ) to manually cycle through the announcements.

     

     
     

   • Auto slide: The text slides continuously across the bar. You can adjust the Moving line speed (Slow to Fast), set the Gap between texts in pixels, and toggle Stop moving when hover over announcement bar.

     

     
     
     

Step 4: Customize the Announcement Bar Design

Switch to the Design tab to customize the visual style of your announcement bar:

• Background color: Select a color for the bar's background.
• Text size: Adjust the font size of the announcement text.
• Timer color: Choose a distinct color for the countdown numbers (only applies to the Reservation Timer).
• Text color: Choose a color for the message text.

Step 5: Save and Preview

When you are done customizing, click Save in the top right corner of the editor.

You can use Preview on test mode at the top of the editor to test your announcement bar's behavior and layout before going live on your storefront.
